Witnesses sought

On Nov. 3, Chatham-Kent police were dispatched to a robbery at Harvey’s Variety, located at 42 Harvey Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the store and showed a weapon.

After being confronted by the storeowner, the man fled on foot westbound on Harvey Street and turned Southbound on Raleigh Street in Chatham.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-6, wearing a black jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, a black toque, a dark facemask, black skinny jeans and black high-top shoes with white laces.

The storeowner was not physically injured during this incident.

Domestic violence charges

A Wallaceburg man faces numerous charges following a complaint by a woman who said she was concerned for her safety on Monday.

Chatham-Kent police report officers attended the Days Inn in Wallaceburg Monday afternoon in reaction to information a woman didn’t feel safe while inside her room. She also alleged her male partner assaulted her.

Through investigation a Wallaceburg male was found to be in breach of his probation and was additionally charged with assault and uttering threats.

B&E

Thieves made off with an estimated $8,000 in fishing gear from a shed in Wallaceburg recently.

Police say that sometime in the past week, someone broke into the shed at a Book Street residence and made off with the gear.

Nailed at the border

On Monday afternoon, Walpole Island CBSA intercepted a Wallaceburg male trying to enter Canada.

The male was found to be wanted by Chatham-Kent Police on several warrants. He was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Fled

On Monday night, officers attended the Chatham Casino in regard to a parking complaint, only to have the vehicle’s occupants flee on foot, leaving them with a vehicle that was stolen.

Police arrived and the male occupant fled on foot. Officers were not able to locate the male at the time of the incident and it was later discovered the male, who was known to police, currently is wanted on outstanding charges.

The officers returned to the vehicle to speak to the female occupant, only to find she fled the area too.

It turns out, their vehicle was reported stolen.

Police had warrants issued for the arrest of the man and woman.
