A different stay-at-home violation

Chatham-Kent police say a local man violated his release conditions by not remaining in his residence recently.

On April 20, the man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence at all times except in the presence of his surety.

Yesterday morning, around 9 a.m., police responded to the report of a suspicious man in the area of Wellington Street East and Adelaide Street in Chatham. Upon police arrival, the supect fled on foot, running through several backyards and jumping over fences. Officers followed the man and he was taken into custody on Park Street.

Through investigation, police identified the man and learned that he was currently bound by conditions.

A 24-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

Arrested development

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious man on Balmoral Road who stole a bicycle from a residence. Officers located the man and he was arrested.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
