Two swept up in Blenheim drug raid

Two Blenheim face charges following a Tuesday night drug raid in that community.

Chatham-Kent police say members of the Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team and the K9 Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in Blenheim.

Officers seized suspected fentanyl, hydromorph, firearm, digital scale, three cell phones and cash.

A 30-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded until Feb. 9.

A 27-year-old Blenheim man is charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of a firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order. He was released pending a future court date.

Lottery tickets stolen, man arrested 

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a theft of lottery tickets at a convenience store on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers identified the man responsible and he was arrested.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted in connection with two previous shoplifting incidents in Chatham, along with failing to attend court.

A 32-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with three counts of theft and three counts of possession of stolen property, and failing to attend court. He was released pending a future court date.

Assault

Yesterday afternoon, a concerned citizen called 911 when she observed a man forcefully trying to push a woman out of a stopped vehicle in Chatham.

The caller was able to provide police with the license plate of the vehicle and last known direction of travel.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle a short distance away and a traffic stop was initiated.

The female passenger was removed from the vehicle and taken to a place of safety.

A 36-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released pending a future court date.

Drug charges

Despite twice being issued probation orders to not communicate with a specific woman, police say a Chatham man is apparently hard of hearing.

The probation orders are from April and November of 2020. Both times, he was told to not communicate with the woman or go to her residence.

Yet late yesterday afternoon, police say the man went to the woman’s home.

Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with drug possession and four counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

B&E at the DCC

Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, someone forced their way into the Downtown Chatham Centre, causing about $1,000 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole approximately $2,000 worth of cell phones from the Koodo Mobile kiosk.

Yesterday morning, police located a man in Chatham who was wanted for theft and fraud related offences.

A 50-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and released pending a future court date.

Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Blenheim who was wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 31-year-old Euphemia Township man was arrested and released pending a future court date.

Last night, police responded to a family dispute in Wallaceburg. Through investigation, police located a man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and remains in police custody this morning.

Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man walking on Richmond Street in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date.

Early this morning, police located a man in Chatham who was wanted in connection with three break and enters at Access Storage in Blenheim.

A 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date.

Early this morning, police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted in connection with a break and enter at a convenience store in the same community, along with failing to comply with his release conditions.

A 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Early this morning, police located a woman in Chatham who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Sobeys in Blenheim, along with a domestic related dangerous driving incident.

A 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released pending a future court date.
