The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to announce the addition of two physicians to the CKHA team. Dr. Sharareh Shokri joins CKHA as a Hospitalist and Dr. Asim Nimir joins CKHA as a Physician in Internal Medicine.
“Doctors Shokri and Nimir are excellent additions to CKHA’s exceptional team of physicians,” said Lori Marshall, President & CEO, CKHA, in a media release. “Our clinical team looks forward to working with both of them to provide quality healthcare to the community of Chatham-Kent.”
Shokri was born in Iran where she received her Doctorate of Medicine from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences-the oldest and most well known medical centre in Iran-in 1993.
For the next five years, Shokri worked as a Family Physician and Emergency Department Physician in Iran.
In 1999, she immigrated to Canada where she completed her Family Medicine Training at the University of Toronto from 2004 to 2006. She then spent more than a decade as a Hospitalist Locum, for hospitals throughout Ontario including Brantford General Hospital, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Kirkland and District Hospital and Cornwall Community Hospital.
“I’m excited to be part of the team at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. I look forward to serving the community of Chatham-Kent with compassion and care to the best of my abilities,” Shokri said.
Nimir was born in Sudan where he earned his medical degree from University of Khartoum in 1974.
He continued studies in Sudan and the United Kingdom where he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, MRCP(UK), and subsequently the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, FRCP Edin.
He worked in several hospitals in the United Kingdom and eventually as a faculty member at the University of Khartoum Medical School. He then worked in Saudi Arabia as a Senior Consultant Physician at King Fahad Armed Forced Hospital before immigrating to Canada. In 2005, Nimir completed the International Medical Graduate Program at McMaster University and subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). Nimir practiced as a Consultant Internist and Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Western Ontario from 2011 to 2013. He then accepted a position as a Consultant Internist at the Al Ahli Hospital in Doha, Qatar before returning to Canada in 2016 as an Internist at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
“I look forward to joining the excellent team of physicians at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and to providing the utmost quality of care that we can offer to the community while I establish my practice,” Nimir said. “I hope to serve this community with dedication and love even after my retirement.”
