TEDx Chatham-Kent is underway.

John Lyons, who with Fannie Favoulis and Peter Martin organized the event, said TEDx is a day of inspiration.

“We brought together a room of big thinkers,” he said. “We’ve brought them together to inspire you.”

In all, 16 people were slated to speak or perform, culminating in a presentation by Jason Hall, co-founder of Detroit’s Slow Roll weekly bicycle ride. He is to talk about how the event is helping to shape the community and foster revitalization within the Motor City.

Local farmer Bob Kerr opened the day, discussing organic farming. He explained that half the acreage at Kerr Farms south of Chatham is now dedicated to growing organic crops.

John Lyons, TEDx C-K co-organizer, addresses the crowd prior to the start of Thursday's event.
