The Chatham-Kent Fire Department estimates Sunday’s blaze at a duplex on Delaware Avenue in Chatham did about $200,000 in damage.

The cause remains under investigation, but the media release, completed by Scott Sproule, a fire prevention officer, said the cause was “open flame to combustibles.”

The fire originated outside near the back door of one of the homes, according to fire officials.

Both Chatham stations responded to the call, and firefighters were still on the scene Monday.
